Before you purchase a course, here are the key points you should know:
- Access: You are buying access to a course for your personal use (not ownership)
- Refunds: Once you access the course, refunds are generally not available
- Certificates: You must complete course requirements to receive a certificate
- Usage: Course materials cannot be shared, copied or resold
- Deadlines: Some courses include timelines and participation requirements
- Support: If something goes wrong, contact us and we will help
By purchasing a course, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions:
1. About Us
The ECU Hub is operated by the European Chess Union (ECU), offering online and in-person professional development courses related to chess.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By purchasing a course, creating an account, or accessing course materials, you confirm that:
- you have read and understood these Terms & Conditions
- you agree to be legally bound by them
If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
3. Course Access
3.1 Access Rights
- Courses are licensed for individual, personal use only
- Access is granted after successful payment
- You will receive full course details (including date, time and location or access information) no later than 5 days before the course start date.

- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login details and for ensuring that your contact information is accurate and kept up to date.
- Sharing accounts or course access is strictly prohibited
4. Course Delivery
- Courses are delivered online or in-person
- Materials may include:
- videos
- downloadable resources
- live or recorded sessions
5. Pricing, Payments
5.1 Pricing
- All prices are displayed in Euros (€)
5.2 Payments
- Payments are processed securely through third-party providers
- ECU does not store full payment details
6. Refund & Cancellation Policy
Refunds are generally not available except in cases of:
- course cancellation by ECU. In such circumstances, participants will be offered either a full refund or the option to transfer to a future course.
- duplicate purchases
- exceptional circumstances (reviewed case-by-case)
If the scheduled course date is not suitable for you after you purchase the course, you may request to attend a future session. We will do our best to accommodate your request, subject to availability.
7. Course Completion & Certification
- Certificates are issued only when course requirements are met
- Requirements may include:
- completion of modules
- participation in sessions
- passing assessments
- ECU reserves the right to:
- withhold certification if criteria are not fulfilled
8. Intellectual Property
All course content (including videos, materials and resources):
- is owned by the European Chess Union and the course creators
- is protected by copyright
You may not:
- copy or redistribute materials
- share content publicly
- resell or reuse materials commercially
9. User Conduct
By participating on courses, you agree to:
- engage respectfully in discussions and sessions
- not disrupt learning environments
ECU reserves the right to suspend access for inappropriate behaviour.
11. Online Platform Availability
- We aim to provide uninterrupted access
- However, we do not guarantee:
- continuous availability
- error-free operation
- Temporary interruptions may occur due to:
- maintenance
- updates
- technical issues
12. Data Protection
Your personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
We are committed to protecting your data and ensuring transparency in how it is used.
